Why Removing Stickers before Painting Furniture is Important
We all love our sweet kiddos and kiddos love stickers!! Stickers are fun! And when kids are alone…and watching tv…somehow stickers end up all over furniture!? lol. I don’t know why?
Removing stickers promptly is the easiest way to get them off furniture! BUT, if you’re like me….and you do not always realize a sweet kiddo has covered their bedroom furniture in stickers then it can be a bit trickier! It’s important to remove them and all their sticky residue because if you do not and you paint over it it will show thru your paint and you will not have a smooth finish.
I have found over the years of refinishing furniture that this is the fastest way of taking stickers off of furniture!

Supply List For Removing Stickers
- A damp warm wash cloth ( I have found soaking stickers before you try to remove them is KEY! This helps so so so much! It will moisten the stickiness and allow you to peel the sticker off).
- A razor blade — ( These are great for scraping off the stickers once you have soaked them! A Razor blade will get all of the sticky residue off efficiently! I personally like this one because of its handle. It can really get under the stickers. 🙂
3. Hair dryer (hair dryers are another great way to warm up the stickiness of the sticker so that the sticker/s can be easily scraped off with the razor blade!
This is the method I used in the above photo to remove ALL of the stickers. It even had sticker stuff on top. Fun story about this piece of furniture…I found it on the side of the road while I was jogging! Had to run fast to get back to our van so I could go back and pick it up! Ha.
I hope the above tips will help you to remove stickers from your furniture! All of these methods have been tested by me and they do work!
Have you removed stickers from furniture? If so what method did you use? Were there certain tools that helped you? I’d love to hear!!
