What you need:

This technique works great on flat surface! Perfect for table tops, dresser tops, top of chest of drawers, desks or coffee tables!

To Begin paint your surface so it is completely covered and the paint is dry. You will need 2-3 coats of paint. When paint is fully dry. You are ready for the fun part! The wood graining tool!

Brush your gel stain in one long stroke with a paint brush. While gel stain IS WET you want to drag and “rock” your wood grainer through the gel stain. Pull the wood graining tool. This will help to create a long wood grain effect. EXCITING! After you have done one section apply more gel stain next to the finished wood grain section and continue to wood grain each section of gel stain. I found that if you can work in loooooong sections it makes the wood graining look more natural.
