I wanted to share with you all how me and my dad made displays for holding art at crafts shows. 🙂
I had registered to do our town’s local Art and Stroll and was wanting something cute to display some of the things I had made. I came across Lana Manis craft show displays that you can view here. 🙂 I LOVED them! They held her art beautifully. When I started to read about her display she said they were actually window shutters. Which is super cool and I love the uniqueness of it! However, I did not have window shutters.
So I began searching our garage for any leftover wood. I came across some 1×10 boards. They looked nearly identical in the width as the shutters I had seen in the blog post! I also had a couple 1×4 boards that were the perfect width to hold canvases. 🙂
Supplies to Make Craft Show Display
- 1×10 board cut to your length. We cut ours about 4ft.
- 1×4 board cut to fit on the 1×10.
- Door hinges (these come in packs of two. You’ll need two for each display. These are a great price!)
- Drill
- Circular Saw
- **Optional** Your favorite paint or stain I used General Finishes Java Gel 🙂
Steps to Making Craft Show Displays
To Begin, cut your 1×10 board to your desired length. You want to have 2 boards the same length. 🙂 We made one display about 4ft. tall and another one about 3ft. tall. I thought having different sizes of displays would be pleasing to the eye.
My dad did the cuts for this project, he cut the 1×4 to fit on top of the 1×10 evenly. We put two 1×4 on each side of the 1×10. Each display will hold two 16×20 canvases. 🙂
After the 1×4 have been screwed into the 1×10, you are ready to add your hinges. 🙂
Make sure hinges are facing the right way. So that your display can open and close like a door. 🙂 These displays are perfect if you are working a craft show or running an antique booth by yourself. You can easily fold these craft displays and transport them easily!
After hinges have been attached you can paint OR stain your craft show displays or booth displays any way you would like! My mom thought they looked really good in their natural state. But, I couldn’t resist adding a little bit of gel stain to these! I used General Finishes Java Gel to make them a bit darker. 🙂
These displays are also great to use at weddings, birthday parties or if you have a booth at a flea market or antique mall these are a great way to display some of your work!

Love this idea. Thx. How did you secure the displays to the ground during your show? I’m thinking earthquake putty.
Hi Laurie! Our displays were pretty durable and they did not need additional support to stay on the ground. 🙂 Earthquake putty is a great idea if you need more support! Blessings on your craft show!
