I think a classic white is one of the most beautiful finishes out there! White goes with everything and will look good in anyone’s home! Also, a top seller in the painted furniture world. 😉 When in doubt paint it white!
What always fascinates me when using white paint on furniture is all of the different ways you can use white! You do not have to paint every piece of furniture a solid white.
There are many different painted finish techniques you can use with just a can of white paint and a brush. There are blending techniques with or without water, washes, and of course dry brushing that you can all do with a single can of white paint!

Supplies you Need to Dry Brush Furniture White
- I used Annie Sloan Old White, BUT, you can also get this look with Jolie or a chalk mineral paint like Dixie Belle.
- Chip Brush ( You want to make sure to use a chip brush bc the bristles will provide texturing to the paint. A syenthic bristle brush will not give the same result.:)
To begin, lightly dip the bristles of your brush into the the paint can. I recommend turning your can of paint over beforehand so all of the good stuff can reach the top. 🙂 Lightly brush the paint around the hardware making up and down motions. When you start to apply the paint to your piece of furniture you really want to lightly feather the paint out AROUND the hardware so that you leave some of the original finish exposed. You keep going lightly over and over with very very little paint on your brush the same spots that you started from. You really want to blend it tighter to the hardware so that you do not see any brush strokes. Just keep blending until you have the look you are wanting to achieve! 🙂
Dark finishes look amazing coming thru white paint or cream color paint. 🙂 This buffet had a very dark finish that you can see coming thru some of the dry brushing.
