I think we’ve all thrown away a glass jar at one point or another. After we make Spaghetti or finish out the last bit of salsa.

I wanted to share with you how I enjoy saving glass jars. This is an easy way to upcycle and reuse! 🙂

DIY Recipe! How to Paint Glass Jars

Upcycle your glass jars with a little bit of paint! Make them into a pretty flower vase.

Equipment

  • Paint Brush, Stencil

Ingredients

  • 1 stencil Make sure it is small enough to fit on glass jar
  • 1 Waverly Chalk style paint any color ( yellow )
  • 1 Valspar Chalky Style Paint Boot Black

Instructions

  • Begin with a glass jar (maybe the empty spaghetti jar from last nights dinner. 🙂
  • Lightly dip paint brush into the black paint. Apply a thin coat of paint around the glass jar.
  • Let dry. Once first coat is dry apply a second coat of black paint.
  • After black paint is dry position stencil on jar.
  • While holding stencil in place (you can also use painters tape!) lightly dip stencil brush into yellow paint and begin to stecil. Making dabbing motions with the stencil brush. Do not paint up and down strokes. Dab up and down until stencil has been fully filled in with paint.
  • Remove Stencil and smile! You should have an adorable upcycled flower vase as this point! You can seal with a spray sealer such as Varathane Crystal Clear Poly

I left the glue from the label on the jar. I liked the added texture is gave the jar. The added texture can look great when you are layering with a stencil. 🙂
